Kitsune Udon with fried tofu pouches filled with udon noodles. Make this easy and delicious Japanese udon noodle soup with a fun twist!
Udon Noodle Soup
A simple Udon Noodle Soup is something I crave when I just want a bowl of thick, chewy noodles and a plain broth to sip on. When I was a uni student in Brisbane, my friends and I used to frequent a popular Japanese restaurant in the city for some cheap and cheerful lunches. They were some of my favourite times; we were so young and cash-strapped, but yet we ate like kings!
Mapo Tofu is a classic Chinese Sichuan dish which consists of tofu cooked in a delicious meat sauce. It’s hot, spicy and addictive! Recipe for Mapo Tofu with step-by-step photos.
If you are a tofu fan, chances are that you have tried Mapo Tofu. It is one of my favourite dishes to order when we go to a Chinese restaurant, except I rarely order it because none of my family members like (or can tolerate) really spicy food. And as Chinese restaurants are mostly about shared plates, we tend to order more kid-friendly dishes, such as Chinese Lemon Chicken, Potstickers, Chinese Barbecue Pork.
A spicy and delicious Steamed Tofu with Soy, Chillies & Sichuan Pepper
You don’t have to be a vegetarian to love tofu. In fact, I think I like it more than meat … Salt & Pepper Tofu is one of my favourite dishes ever, especially when it is fresh and piping hot. At other times, you will often find me adding tofu to most Asian soups and stir-fries. Recently, I started experimenting with recipes for steamed tofu and I love how it can be such a simple, yet satisfying, dish on its own.
Golden and Crispy Tofu served with a Vietnamese Spicy Tomato Sauce. This dish will win over both vegetarians and meat-lovers alike! Use either silken tofu or firm tofu.
I had to renew my work visa the other day, which necessitated a trip to the immigration office so that I could be fingerprinted and all the rest. The only thing worse than taking an hour out of my day to visit a government office was posing for my mug shot and realising that I would be stuck with that photo everytime I have to go through passport control in the next 12 months. Someone ought to fix the lighting in those photo booths …
Fiery and addictive Black Pepper Tofu. This mouthwatering recipe is from Ottolenghi and it is a perfect vegetarian dish served with steamed rice.
This recipe comes from Yotam Ottolenghi’s Plenty and was recommended to me by the lovely Carrie, another food-obsessed cookbook lover who has become an invaluable friend to me in the online world. When she first made this dish sometime ago and raved about how delicious it was, I knew it was something that I had to try. Having grown up on tofu as a child, I love it cooked in whatever shape or form and could happily eat it every night for dinner.
