Sophie Conran – Timeless tableware and a special offer for ELB readers

sophie conran collection 3

For me, it was love at first sight. The moment I laid my eyes on a Sophie Conran casserole pot at John Lewis, I knew I had to have it. I loved its round and compact shape, and I loved even more the elegant and wavy ridges, somewhat reminiscent of fragile Japanese porcelain but with a distinct nod to handmade English pottery. Nevermind that I was in London for only 12 hours for a series of back-to-back meetings and, therefore, shouldn’t have even been anywhere near Oxford Street, but kitchenware has always been my travel souvenir of choice, and I was determined to lug this casserole pot back to Zurich with me.

And so began my love affair with the Sophie Conran tableware collection, a hobby which was made more special by the fact that the range has never been available in Switzerland. Each trip I made to London always saw me return with an armful of fragile bowls and dishes, and this cross-border ferrying of kitchenware continued when I worked in the US for a few years. My collection slowly grew to include varying sizes of platters, salad bowls, mixing bowls and jugs, until one lucky day, my husband bluntly suggested that we just buy the whole range and have it delivered to Zurich. He was either giving in to my obsession or he was simply fed up with carrying so much hand luggage on our travels, or both. More than 5 years later, I still survey my Sophie Conran collection in awe and wonder like when I first saw them at John Lewis.

The white range of tableware is not only practical in that it will co-ordinate nicely with other colours and patterns you might already have, but they are also hard-wearing and long-lasting. We use them for everyday eating, as well as for more formal occasions; their classic design add a special touch to casual meals and they transition seamlessly to more elegant dinners. The serving-ware is particularly useful in that they can go straight from the oven to the table – your food will never look better.

You probably would have noticed some of Sophie Conran’s products on my blog as they have featured in a lot of my photos over the years. It is a brand which I personally know and love, so you can imagine my delight when Sophie Conran contacted me to make a special offer for readers of ELB …

Wow! This is fantastic. I always admired the bakware and the cookware you photographed your food in. Now I know the source.
Think I will check out Sophi Conran’s online store.

I’ll take a look, with the move, I want a completer service than I had. And, even if it’s not being easy to decide, seeing that we have until June, no hurt to take a look 🙂 Although I recognize my wakness for a specific brand, I don’t close doors 😛

This white is specias. White dish usually look ‘boring’ to me, but this is not 🙂 Well, and my photos are even worse if the dish is white!! 😛

    Thanks!

I always viewed the Sophie Conran collection as an investment. You don’t want to be buying new tableware every year! I’ve owned my pieces for 5-7 years now and I’m still not tired of them 🙂 My only problem is space … there is so much more from the collection that I want to buy, but where to put them … I’m sure I’ll find a place! 😉

Just found your blog in preparation for Ruth Clemens bloghop and what a good start with this offer – whoopwhoop!! Love the Sophie Conran range – when I left my last job I was given John Lewis vouchers as a leaving present and splurged on the tea set and best of all, the cake stand. Its generously sized and perfect for some of my more mega cake ideas. Have to start saving my pennies. Looking forward to exploring your blog more.

Lovely to hear from another Sophie Conran fan! I use the tea set everyday and I never tire of it, nor anything else from the range, for that matter. The cake stand is indeed really lovely and practical. I have the large and small sizes, but I’ve noticed that there is now a mini version … think I need that one too 😉 Hope you will enjoy visiting my blog and also my special feature coming up as part of Ruth Clemens’ blog hop!
